It's very important that your business be covered by liability insurance and it can be very difficult to get that insurance if you are a small home based beauty/skincare/bodycare business.
The Indie Beauty Network is a great resource because they have an affordable liability insurance program that is a part of membership, if you don't already have an insurance policy somewhere else.
While researching the type of insurance I would need, I came

across three things that I think every business should have mapped out for their business as a part of their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Like me, these things may not have been on your radar as something you need to have in place but regardless of whether you are a big, small, or micro business these three policies and procedures should be a part of your business practice. They are:
- Complaints Policy & Procedure
- Recall Policy & Procedure
- Safety Policy & Procedure
Below are a few good websites for information that should be helpful in putting this policies together. The FDA regulates our industry and has a pretty comprehensive website with the information you need.
